Robert Larry "Bob" Hughes was born on July 11, 1946 in York, York County Pennsylvania (pop. 58,000 and 100 miles
west from  Philadelphia) to Robert E. & Letha (Sexton) Hughes. Bob was the only son of the three children and his two
sisters were Rosemarie Hughes-Zimmerman and Nesher C. Hughes-Jackson. He died on February 14, 1990
in York,
York County Pennsylvania (pop. now 42,000). Bob is buried in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Lebanon County,

Pennsyvania.

Robert Larry "Bob" Hughes serial number 2174943, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on October 29, 1965
and Separation with a Honorable Discharge with the rank of Sergeant E-5 on January 25, 1974.

Bob served with First Force Reconnaissance Company in Vietnam from at least 1966 as a LCpl where he served with
LCpl Charles D.  "Will" Wilkins (Ret. Major) on varies teams including with Team Kong in Chu Lai in February 1967
[See TEAM photo below]  and the first I first met Sgt. Hughes when I was a Cpl. with the Hue City Dive team under then
Capt. Vogel (Ret. Colonel) during TET of 1968 [see Photo below], I was in Vietnam only a month at that time. I last seen
Bob on our May 18, 1968 on a dive mission he commanded doing bridge dives.

Bob was one the best from long range recon patrols to combat dives. "There was no one better to have as a dive partner
then Sgt Hughes" per Major Vogel and I and everyone of us would agree 110 percent.

To Our Brother, Sgt. Robert Larry "Bob" Hughes USMC, Semper Fi and Rest in Peace!
