below email on team Petrify email from Jay Fitzpatrick (aka Cpl Pitz) G

Back in November ’67 I was with Golf 2/7 on
a hill northwest of Da Nang when RT Petrify got into some bad shit a
few clicks north of us.
I was volunteered to take my squad up highway 1 to secure a downed
chopper and help evacuate the team.
When we got there,
there were already other marines in place and we were assigned a
section of the LZ to secure.
When the team was finally evacuated including KIA and WIA, I
started back to my company but saw all these pieces of a “C” ration box
left behind with the entire radio communication with Petrify. For no
other reason than keeping it out of enemy hands, I grab them up and
held onto them for over 50 years.
Attach you will find a small sample of the communications from the
beginning of the fight to the end including team members KIA and WIA
and everything that went down.
Thought you might find this interesting. Semper Fi
