Charles D. Wilkins: I served with
the 2nd Platoon of 1st Force from August of 1966 to the end of October
of 1967. I started with the company at Dong Ha during
Hastings/Prairie when all of the platoons were together. The
company was attached
to 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion at that time. In mid-November of 67 the
company
was attached to 1st Reconnaissance Battalion. 1st, 3rd
and 5th platoons went to Da Nang and 2nd, 4th and 6th platoons went to
Chu Lai. My MOS was 0331
(Machine Gunner) but I carried a radio a
lot. The team names that I went out with were WHITE HORSE, HONG
KONG and PETRIFY. I was with Team PETRIFY
in October of 1967 when
we were shot up really badly (2 KIA and 12 WIA). I have attached
a photo of Team HONG KONG in February of '67 when we were
operating
out of Chu Li. Note that we are still carrying
M-14's.
